Accessibility statement
A training platform for the disability sector that is not itself accessible would be difficult to defend. Here is where we stand.
Our target
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the site. We are not claiming formal certification — we are stating a target, describing what we have done, and asking you to tell us where we fall short.
What we have built in
- Semantic structure — real headings in order, landmarks, lists and tables with proper headers, so screen readers can navigate.
- Keyboard access — every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link.
- Colour contrast — body text and interface elements meet AA contrast ratios in both light and dark themes. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed; status pills carry text as well as colour.
- Reduced motion — animations and smooth scrolling are disabled automatically when your system requests reduced motion.
- Dark mode — follows your system preference, with a palette designed for it rather than inverted.
- Text scaling — layouts use relative units and reflow to 400% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- Forms — every field has a visible label, errors are announced in text and explain how to fix the problem.
- Print — lesson pages print cleanly for anyone who prefers to read on paper.
- No time limits — assessments are untimed, and attempts are unlimited.
- Plain English — short sentences, acronyms defined on first use, and no unnecessary jargon.
Known limitations
- Certificates are generated as PDFs, which are less accessible than HTML. Every certificate also has an HTML verification page carrying the same information.
- Some content tables are wide and scroll horizontally on small screens.
- We do not currently offer Auslan or captioned video content. We are interested in adding it.
- Content is currently available in English only.
Tell us where we fail
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, please email kirby@oakmedspa.com.au. Describe what you were trying to do and what assistive technology you use if that is relevant. We treat accessibility defects as bugs, not feature requests, and we will give you a workaround while we fix it.
If you need the content in an alternative format, ask. We will supply it.
