Preventing and Responding to Abuse and Neglect
Recognise every form of abuse and neglect, respond to a disclosure properly, and report it — including when the person you are worried about is a colleague.
About this certificate
Non-accredited Certificate of Completion. This module builds on the abuse and neglect content in the NDIS Worker Orientation Module and goes into considerably more depth. It does not replace your employer's own incident management policy and procedure, which you must also know and follow.
About this module
People with disability experience violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation at far higher rates than the general population, and most of it is discovered by a worker who noticed something and said so. This module goes well beyond the definitions: the indicators for each form of abuse, how grooming works, why neglect by omission is so easily missed, exactly what to do and say when someone discloses to you, the protections that exist for workers who report, and how to act when your concern is about a co-worker, a family member or your own employer.
