Workplace Fire Safety and Prevention
Prevent fires in homes and group settings, respond with RACE, choose the right extinguisher, and evacuate people who cannot evacuate themselves.
About this certificate
This is a non-accredited professional development module and the Certificate of Completion is not a Statement of Attainment. It does not replace site-specific emergency training, fire warden training, or hands-on extinguisher training, which many employers and SDA properties require. Always follow the evacuation plan for your specific site.
About this module
People with disability are over-represented in fire deaths, often because they cannot detect, respond to or escape a fire without help. This module covers how fires start and spread, the common causes in supported accommodation, smoke alarms, the RACE response, evacuation planning including Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), fire extinguishers and blankets, and what to do if clothing catches fire.
