Emergency and Disaster Management
Fire, flood, heatwave, blackout and pandemic — planning for participants who cannot simply walk out, and continuing supports when the road is closed.
About this certificate
Non-accredited Certificate of Completion. This module covers principles and planning. It does not replace your provider's own emergency and disaster management plan, site-specific evacuation procedures, or any practical fire training and evacuation drills your employer must provide.
About this module
Disasters affect people with disability first and worst, and the NDIS Practice Standards now require providers to plan for it. This module covers the emergency and disaster management standard, building participant-specific emergency plans, evacuation where mobility or communication is a barrier, fire response, heatwaves and power failure for people who depend on equipment, floods and bushfire, pandemic and infectious disease planning, business continuity when workers cannot reach a house, and what to do in the recovery period afterwards.
