Introduction to Disability Support — Part 1
Where disability support in Australia came from, the two models that shape how you work, and how to treat people decently without overthinking it.
About this certificate
Non-accredited Certificate of Completion. This is an introductory induction module. It does not replace the free NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety and You" published by the NDIS Commission, which the Commission recommends all workers complete.
About this module
A first module for anyone entering disability support. It covers the history of how Australia has treated people with disability — including the parts that are uncomfortable — how the medical and social models lead to completely different support, where the NDIS and its safeguards came from, and practical disability etiquette you can use on your first shift.
