Person-Centred Active Support
The difference between caring for someone and supporting them to live their own life — and the practical technique that makes it happen on a shift.
About this certificate
Non-accredited Certificate of Completion. Introductory induction content. Where a participant has an individual plan prepared by an occupational therapist, speech pathologist or behaviour support practitioner, that plan sets the approach for that person.
About this module
Active support is the best-evidenced approach in disability services for increasing a person's engagement in their own life. This module covers what person-centred means beyond the slogan, the graded levels of assistance and how to pick the right one, how to break an activity into steps, why "every moment has potential" is a scheduling decision rather than a mood, and the five things that make it actually stick in a busy house.
