Professional Boundaries in Disability Support
Support work is warm, intimate and long-term, which is exactly why boundaries blur. Where the line sits, how crossings start, and the warning signs to catch early.
About this certificate
Non-accredited Certificate of Completion. Your employer's code of conduct and policies on gifts, social media and outside contact apply alongside this and take precedence where they are stricter.
About this module
A participant may reasonably experience their support worker as a friend — you are in their home, you know their body, and you may be the person they see most. That makes boundaries harder here than in almost any other job, and it makes them more important. This module covers why boundaries protect both people, the difference between a crossing and a violation, the specific risks around gifts, money, social media, favours and disclosure, and the early warning signs that a relationship is drifting.
