Sexuality and Relationships
People with disability have the same rights to relationships, intimacy and sexual expression as anyone else — and are far more often denied them. How to support that well and safely.
About this certificate
Non-accredited Certificate of Completion. Where a participant has a sexuality support plan, behaviour support plan or a relevant guardianship order, those documents govern. Laws on sexual consent and capacity vary between states and territories — your jurisdiction's law applies.
About this module
Sexuality is one of the most avoided topics in disability support, and avoidance causes harm: unmet needs, no education, no protective knowledge, and a far higher rate of sexual abuse. This module covers the rights framework, common myths, supporting healthy sexual expression, consent and capacity, the Circles of Relationships tool for teaching boundaries, protective education, and where a worker's own boundaries sit.
